In World of Warcraft, your Best in Slot (BiS) list is the single strongest item your class and specialization can equip in each gear slot โ head, neck, shoulders, weapons, trinkets and the rest. Because every spec scales differently with secondary stats such as Critical Strike, Haste, Mastery and Versatility, the ideal piece for a Fire Mage is rarely the same as the one a Frost Death Knight wants, even when it drops from the same boss. GearInsight publishes an up-to-date BiS list for all 39 specializations so you always know exactly what to chase next.
Most BiS guides are hand-written theorycraft โ one author's opinion of what should be strongest. GearInsight takes the opposite approach: every ranking is aggregated from thousands of the highest-parsing Mythic raid and Mythic+ logs on WarcraftLogs. For each slot we count how often the top players of a spec actually equip each item, then rank by real usage and show it as a percentage bar. The result reflects what is winning on live servers right now, not what a spreadsheet predicts. Lists are re-baked regularly and fully refreshed with every patch and new raid tier.
Open any spec to see its gear table. Each slot lists its top candidates with item level, where the item drops, and a usage bar showing how many top raiders run it. Use the Raid / Mythic+ toggle to switch between the two environments, check the Stat Priority panel to see how to weight your secondary stats, and scroll down for the recommended gems, enchants and raid consumables. When you are ready, paste your character into the Gear Analyzer to see exactly which BiS pieces you are still missing and the fastest order to farm them.
Raid and Mythic+ reward different gear, so the best setup is rarely identical between them. Raid BiS favours the highest item-level pieces and tier-set bonuses dropped by bosses, while Mythic+ BiS leans on dungeon trinkets, on-use effects and stat profiles tuned for sustained AoE and short, bursty pulls. GearInsight tracks both separately for every spec, so you can build the right set for the content you run most โ or keep two sets and swap between them.
Real data. Every item ranking is aggregated from the top-performing Mythic raid and Mythic+ logs on WarcraftLogs, ranked by how often the best players of each spec actually equip it. We do not hand-pick items based on opinion.
Rankings are re-baked regularly from fresh logs and fully refreshed with every patch, new raid tier and Mythic+ season, so they always reflect the current state of the game.
Raid BiS prioritises the highest item-level pieces and tier-set bonuses from raid bosses; Mythic+ BiS favours dungeon trinkets and stat profiles suited to dungeon pulls. Use the Raid / Mythic+ toggle on any spec page to switch between them.
No. Every BiS list, tier list and guide on the site is free to read in your browser. The optional GearInsight addon adds in-game gear comparisons and lets the Gear Analyzer read your character instantly, but you can also just look up any character by name from the Armory.
