How the WoW Gear Analyzer works

GearInsight compares your equipped gear against the real Best-in-Slot list for your spec — ranked by what top Mythic raiders actually wear, not theorycraft. It shows exactly which slots are missing a BiS upgrade, where each target item drops, and the fastest order to farm them. Use the addon export for instant results, or look up any character by name to check their gaps from the Armory.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the addon to use the Gear Analyzer?

No. Paste an addon export string for the most detailed result, or just type a character name and realm above to pull their gear from the Blizzard Armory — no install required.

Why does my export string say it is invalid?

The string was almost certainly truncated when copied — chat apps and websites can cut off the end. Re-copy the full GI1.… string in-game, or use the character lookup instead.

How is "missing" decided?

A slot counts as satisfied only if you have the #1 most-used BiS item for that slot (rings and trinkets accept the top two, since they share a pool). Everything else is flagged as a gap, ordered by how commonly top players use the target.
